Take your skills to the next level.
UK Animal Sculpture Workshops
Hone your skills, learn new techniques and gain confidence as you bring your own animal sculpture to life under Nick’s expert guidance. Our UK animal sculpture workshops are studio based and run over three days to allow plenty of time for instruction and practical work. The workshops include demonstrations, technical instruction and a mix of group and one-to-one tuition. No prior experience is needed and all the tools and materials you’ll need are provided.
Our three day animal sculpture workshops are based near Nick’s studio in West Devon, overlooking the Dartmoor National Park. They include the opportunity to visit Nick’s studio, which is just a few minutes’ walk away, to view her work and arrange firing and finishing of your own animal sculptures. Nick will talk about her animal sculpture and influences, demonstrate building and modelling techniques and provide a mix of group and individual tuition. You will then sculpt an animal of your choosing under Nick’s expert guidance.

Nick will introduce her work, talk about her influences and experience, and show examples of her unique animal sculptures. She’ll explain tools and materials, what type of clay to use, and introduce you to basic building and modelling techniques.
Nick will demonstrate her own unique building technique and gradually introduce the techniques you’ll need to refine and finish your animal sculptures. You’ll learn to apply these techniques and develop your skills as you bring your own animal sculpture to life under Nick’s expert guidance.
By the end of the workshop you will have your own completed animal sculpture. Nick offers an optional basic glazing and firing service if you don’t have access to their own kiln. Our students find they are able to make significant progress over the course of our intensive three-day programme, developing new and improved skills in observation, anatomy, modelling and characterisation. For many it is a transformative experience, taking their art to a whole new level.
