You asked, so we made it. Over three hours of high quality HD video content filmed in real time in Nick’s studio, taking you from the very start to the finish of making your very own animal sculpture.
Nick has been running animal sculpture workshops here in the UK and at wildlife destinations worldwide for many years now. We know how much many people value these workshops as a way of exploring their creativity, trying new things and developing new skills.
But we also know many of you aren’t able to attend this kind of workshop, due to work and family commitments, or simply just because of the time and cost of getting there. You’ve been asking us to make an online video based animal sculpture workshop.
From the outset, we wanted our online workshops to be delivered with the same care and attention to detail as our in person workshops. Many of you tell us our UK and international animal sculpture workshops are life changing. We wanted our online workshops to feel the same.
To make this happen we needed to revamp our small studio space, invest in proper lighting, proper studio quality video capture, proper audio equipment - and then we needed to learn how to put it all together.
Filming began at the beginning of the year. We shot every stage of the sculpting process using multiple cameras to enable us to capture wide and close up angles simultaneously. But that was only the beginning. Many hours of raw footage had to be reviewed, cut and carefully sequenced to show every step of the sculpting process, including the detailed close up shots we knew students would need to learn the necessary skills and techniques.
The result is over three hours of high quality HD video instruction arranged in 21 detailed lessons, covering everything from the initial slab building to the final detailing and finishing. We’ve done everything we can to make it feel like you’re right there with Nick every step of the way.
