Inspired by Dogs.
I have always been inspired by dogs. I have loved and looked after dogs since childhood. They are such an important part of my life. They inspire and excite me, they entertain me and they keep me company on long days working in my studio. So I was delighted when the Kennel Club, the largest UK registrar for pedigree and crossbreed dogs, asked to interview me for a feature in their official magazine, the Kennel Gazette.
The interview explores my background and influences, my approach and techniques and, of course, how I have been inspired by dogs in my work. I have sculpted many dogs over the years and recently completed a life-size bronze sculpture of a Gordon Setter. Many of my dog sculptures are private commissions. It’s a great way of capturing or commemorating the spirit of a much loved family pet, and I explain the process in detail in the article. The article is reproduced below.
